It works by interfering with the growth of genetic material (DNA and RNA) of the cancer cells. This slows the growth of cancer cells and eventually kills them. It is classified under cytostatic group of drugs that have significant role in preventing growth of cancer affected cells. Content of Cacit Capecitabine 500mg Tablet transforms into 5-fluorouracil inside human body. This specific chemical affects synthesis of DNA and RNA of cancerous cells to prevent their proliferation. This medicine is advised to prevent re-emergence of colon cancer post removal of tumor by surgical procedure. Overdose of this medicine can lead to severe kidney and liver injury. Before taking this medicine, blood cell count of patient should be monitored.
